Camp Garrett

Derek and I came up with this idea that we were going to run Camp Garrett in our backyard. (we are always trying to come up with ideas for "friendship evangelism") We invited the neighbors and all their children to camp out in tents in our backyard. We did activities with the kids and the adults found some time to pitch horse shoes. It was really hot and humid which made it difficult to sit by the fire at night, but all in all it was a great night. Hannah came in at 11:30 pm and Ben was sitting in a chair by the fire pit when I got up this morning. Derek must of been snoring or something. Only one other trooper made it all night (Ashley a now 6th grader from across the street). I think we will try it again when its a little cooler.

Last Day of School!

It is finally Hannah's last day of school. I just found out from someone at church why they go so long. I guess back in the day they use to send the kids home from school for a week in the middle of winter to save on fuel costs. I guess it stuck. Hannah has a fall, winter, and Spring break which doesn't include holidays. Anyways, it doesn't change what Ben and Eve do every morning. They get along for the first 30 minutes of the day.

Mullet Interuption

Okay - so I couldn't finish video taping b/c of mullet interuption. I was laughing so hard so I couldn't video tape the whole song. Look how little Ben is compared to everyone else. He's actually going to be in preschool one more year.

Daddy's hands!

I'm not a very good wife because I don't make a huge day out of Father's Day. I think I just become bitter that I don't have dad around to call and wish him a Happy Father's Day! Derek doesn't mind. He's not real big on holidays anyways. The kids did make him cute crafts and he got cards from them that they made, but I was just blah about the whole thing. Happy Father's Day Derek! Love you!

Lake George

After a long afternoon swimming (wading in Lake George); Eve couldn't keep her eyes open at 5:30 pm. She fell asleep while I was making dinner.

Redneck beach of the Northeast
Lake George is very beautiful, but I love the white sandy beaches of Florida. The water is very clear for a lake, but very cold because the snow just melted up here 2 months ago and its mountain water with icy temperatures. The kids swam, but you couldn't pay me enough. Good thing I didn't have to do any lifesaving!

Hot summer days!!

If anyone has been watching the news than you will know that we are getting really hot weather. They actually closed school early yesterday b/c the classrooms were unbearable. We've been 98-101 degrees for three days straight. This week has made me want a pool more than I have ever wanted before! Not much to do except for slip-N-slide and blow-up pools! I can't seem to twist Derek's arm on the idea of an inground pool, but I am working on it.

Who says girls can't pee standing up?

Derek is going to kill me for adding this picture. I told him that there were only like 10 people that read this blog anyways!

Last Minute 5K

I decided to run a 5K last minute tonight. It was so hot and humid. Derek and the kids came to watch. I was waving to Eve who was behind the girl in front of me. It had a lot of hills and I was regretting the choice of salad dressing I had at 4:00pm; three hours prior to start time!!

Update on fitness challenge!

Okay- so whose idea was this anyways? I've been working my tail with no real results. I think I might of even gained a couple. The problem is the more I work out; the more I eat because I am so hungry. Monday I kicked off the challenge with a 4 mile EP jog and 6 100 meter sprints (31 year old sprints with 3 kids). Tuesday a 3 mile jog with 1/2 mile swim at the YMCA. Wednesday I did a 6 mile run and Thursday a 10 mile bike preceding another 3 mile run. Today I'm going to do 7-8 miles if the weather permits. It sounds like a lot - right? Everyday I'm trying to complete 50 push-ups (I can only do about 10 consecutively), 25 plie squats, 25 lunges, and 15 min of ab and core work. We'll see guys. Now if I could just keep my chocolate and peanutbutter cravings on the D.L..

The kids at Hannah's soccer game last night!

They celebrated Ben's birthday 2 months early at preschool. He wore that hat all day long and
was enjoying everyone wishing him "Happy Birthday". Maybe b/c it had a "5" on it!
